"The efforts of Gina Ross to bring relief to trauma victims in Israel is Zionism in its highest order. The offer to share these techniques with Israel's neighbors is already peace making."

Is President Bush Right? Do the Media Ignore Positive Stories in Iraq?

George W. Bush has recently complained that the media have not been providing balanced coverage of the war in Iraq. He argues that the press has one-sidedly honed in what has gone wrong while ignoring what has gone right. Trauma expert Gina Ross will tell your audience that Bush makes a good point as she explores the media’s role in covering and shaping our views on the trauma of war, terrorism and violence.

An experienced and articulate psychotherapist, Ross will discuss:
  • The dangers of inflammatory language, sensationalism and subtle manipulation on us
  • Why repeated coverage of tragedy and violence breeds more fear, numbness and indifference
  • 5 ways the media can help stem violence, promote healing and foster peace
  • The often hidden toll that covering war takes on journalists.
"...advises us to look at political conflicts between groups and nations through the trauma lens."
-Jerry Levin, former CNN Middle East Bureau chief

" ... a must for journalists, cameramen, producers, and everyone in the media business… everyone who is interested in the role of the media on trauma."
